Burger - Copycat Wendy's Baconator Cheeseburger

It s generally agreed throughout the world that a sandwich is two pieces of bread with something in-between. As if we were not confused enough, we have tried to list sandwiches by type: sandwich, burgers, grilled cheese, submarine, sausage (includes hot dogs), stuffed, open-face.

Burger - Copycat Wendy's Baconator Cheeseburger

Post by Chowhound »

Baconator.jpg
8 bacon strips bacon
1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons pepper
4 slices of American cheese
2 hamburger buns, sliced open
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons mayonnaise

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees and cook the bacon on a sheet tray for 10 minutes. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions, then shape each portion into a square patty, slightly bigger than the burger bun. Add the garlic powder, salt, and pepper to both sides of the patties. Cook the patties for 2 minutes on both sides on a high heat pan. Add one slice of American cheese to each patty 30 seconds before removing from the pan. To build the burger, place 1 patty on the bottom bun, then add 2 pieces of bacon facing one direction, and 2 pieces facing the other way to form a lattice. Add the second patty over the bacon, then stack 4 more pieces of bacon over the patty in the same lattice orientation. Add 1 tablespoon each of ketchup and mayonnaise to the top bun and place bun on top of stacked burger. Repeat assembly steps for the second burger, and then enjoy (not both -- share with someone)!
