What's the difference between a cocktail and a drink? Hell, we don't know! As near as can be said, a drink is alcohol, a mixer, and (or not) ice. A cocktail is something carefully constructed using different ingredients and with finesse. Sometimes, but not always, cocktails are served in stemware, fancy glasses. You be the judge.
2 ounces gin
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon simple syrup
4-5 ounces champagne or prosecco/sparkling wine
ice
Combine gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Shake until well chilled. Pour into a champagne flute and top with champagne or prosecco. Garnish with lemon zest and serve immediately.
