Portland Breeze Rum Cocktail

What's the difference between a cocktail and a drink? Hell, we don't know! As near as can be said, a drink is alcohol, a mixer, and (or not) ice. A cocktail is something carefully constructed using different ingredients and with finesse. Sometimes, but not always, cocktails are served in stemware, fancy glasses. You be the judge.

Equipment:
Stemless Wine Glasses
Muddler
Cocktail Shaker
Jigger
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons fresh blackberries plus more for garnish
2 tablespoons fresh blueberries plus more for garnish
Crushed ice
2 ounces sweet and sour mix
2 ounces silver rum
1 ounce triple sec
2 ounces 7UP lemon-lime soda
Fresh mint for garnish (optional)

Place the berries in the bottom of a stemless wine glass and top with crushed ice. Muddle the berries into the ice to break them up. Fill a cocktail shaker and pour in the sweet and sour mix, rum, and triple sec. Cover and shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Strain the cocktail over the mashed berries and ice. Top with 7UP to fill the glass. Garnish with blueberries and blackberries on a cocktail pick and a mint sprig if desired. Serve immediately.
