Post by Chowhound »

KCBBQSauce.jpg
2 cups ketchup
2 cups plain tomato sauce
1 1/4 cups light brown sugar
1 1/4 cups red wine vinegar
1/2 cup unsulfured molasses
4 teaspoons hickory-flavored liquid smoke
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon cumin
2 tablespoons onion powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper

In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the ketchup, tomato sauce, light brown sugar, red wine vinegar, molasses, and liquid smoke. Next, add the garlic powder, dry mustard, cumin, onion powder, chili powder, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Stir until the seasonings are well blended. Reduce the heat to low. Let the mixture simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the barbecue sauce becomes thick. For a thinner sauce, allow the mixture to simmer for 20 minutes. Remove the sauce from the heat and serve it with your favorite meat.
