Sloppy Joe - Sloppy Joe Stuffed Bread

It s generally agreed throughout the world that a sandwich is two pieces of bread with something in-between. As if we were not confused enough, we have tried to list sandwiches by type: sandwich, burgers, grilled cheese, submarine, sausage (includes hot dogs), stuffed, open-face.

This is more of a sandwich - a loaf of French bread.

1 pound lean ground beef
1 (15 oz) can Sloppy Joe sauce
1 loaf French bread, cut in half lengthwise
2 bell peppers, diced
½ yellow onion, diced
½ tablespoon oil
1 ½ cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
1 ½ cups Monterrey Jack cheese, shredded
3 green onions, chopped, for garnish

Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and placed sliced bread halves onto sheet, cut side up. Sauté onions in oil until softened and translucent. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess liquid before adding Sloppy Joe sauce to pan. Stir sauce with meat until thoroughly mixed. Spread meat mixture over both halves of bread. Top with Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, followed by diced bell pepper. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until cheese is completely melted. Garnish with chopped green onions.
