Sloppy Joe - BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes

It s generally agreed throughout the world that a sandwich is two pieces of bread with something in-between. As if we were not confused enough, we have tried to list sandwiches by type: sandwich, burgers, grilled cheese, submarine, sausage (includes hot dogs), stuffed, open-face.

1 lb lean ground beef
1 cup diced yellow onion
1 cup real bacon bits
1/2 cup Sweet Baby Ray's Hickory & Brown Sugar BBQ sauce
1 cup Tostitos salsa con queso
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tbsp onion powder
4 large hamburger buns
3 cups shredded double cheddar cheese blend
1 cup French's fried onions

Preheat oven to 400F for toasting the buns. Dump ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat, along with a dab of margarine or butter. Add the diced onions to the pan with the ground beef while it's cooking. Crumble the ground beef well. When the ground beef is fully cooked, reduce the heat to low and drain the excess grease from the pan. Add the bacon bits to the pan and stir well. Leave the mixture to continue cooking for 2 minutes. Add the BBQ sauce, salsa con queso, salt, pepper and onion powder to the pan. Stir well. Leave the mixture to continue cooking over low heat while you toast the buns. Lay the buns in a single layer on a baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the buns for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes remove the pan from the oven. Remove the pan with the sloppy joe mixture from the heat. Add the shredded cheese to the pan. Stir until cheese is melted. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom buns. Sprinkle the French's fried onions on top of the sloppy joe mixture. Put on the top buns. Serve and enjoy!
