What's the difference between a cocktail and a drink? Hell, we don't know! As near as can be said, a drink is alcohol, a mixer, and (or not) ice. A cocktail is something carefully constructed using different ingredients and with finesse. Sometimes, but not always, cocktails are served in stemware, fancy glasses. You be the judge.
One teaspoon of powdered white sugar (1 oz. Simple syrup)
Juice of half a lemon or lime
3 oz of Rye Whiskey
Two dashes of Jamaican Rum
One glass of shaved ice
Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice, and pour into a stem punch glass with crushed or shaved ice. Garnish with two slices of lemon or other seasonal fruit and serve with a straw.
