Simonsen's Peanut Butter Pie

1 baked pie shell
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup cornstarch
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups scalded milk
3 egg yolks, beaten
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 egg whites for meringue
Combine powdered sugar and peanut butter. Blend until it is the appearance of biscuit mix. Spread half of this mixture in bottom of pie shell. Combine cornstarch, sugar, and salt; add scalded milk and mix well. Pour small amount over beaten egg yolks and mix well then return it to milk mixture. Cook in top of double boiler until mixture thickens. Add butter and vanilla then pour into prepared pie shell. Top with meringue made from three beaten egg whites. Sprinkle remainder of peanut butter mixture over meringue. Bake at 325 degrees F until meringue is brown.
